Woman won’t share her inheritance, and her fiancé has a major temper tantrum.

After a heated argument with her fiancé, a woman who had been in a relationship for five years turned to the internet for help.

The argument started over money, and it made her wonder how their relationship works.

She wrote about her experience in an honest post on Reddit’s “Am I The A*e” thread.

After five years together, the 32-year-old woman, who went by the name Original Poster (OP), wrote that she was getting married to her 35-year-old partner. They chose May 2025 as the date of their wedding after the proposal.

But OP’s grandmother died not long after the engagement.

The OP says that her grandmother and grandfather were “very successful” and had good jobs for most of their lives. OP was left a “hugely generous” amount of money, as you might expect. But this is where the trouble started.

“As soon as I heard the news, I told my fiancé. He was so happy, it was beyond my wildest dreams.” Later that day, I heard him on the game with his friends saying, “I can pay off my credit card with that money, mate!” I agreed and didn’t think much of it. It’s finally time for that boys’ trip we’ve been planning, ay?” OP wrote in her post.

“I walked into the room and asked, ‘What money?'” she said. he gave me a funny look and said, “From your grandmother, honey.””

The woman said she “immediately exploded on him” and told him he couldn’t pay anything off without her permission. She also told him he couldn’t use the money to pay for a boys’ trip.

“”It’s not your money; it was written to me by MY grandmother. It’s not for you,” OP said she told her boyfriend.

Eventually, this turned into a fight, and the OP wrote that she left the room angry. When the fiancé was finally done with his game, he scolded her in the kitchen, “We’re getting married, you’ll be my financial BURDEN.” I also own any money you make. Making me look like such a fool in front of my friends and giving them false hope of a holiday was very selfish of you.

The woman then said in her post that she didn’t say anything and left the house to stay with a friend. Before ending, she asked if she was being a jerk.

Following her post, the woman got a lot of support and sympathy from other people online.

“Okay, he’s shown you that he sees you as a burden and plans to give money that isn’t his to his “boys.” He’s yelling at you because you won’t go along with his plans. One person wrote, “You’re crazy if you marry him.”

“Do you really want to marry this guy?” asked someone else. There are two issues: 1. He thought he was entitled to the money. 2. He thought that he could spend it on something that didn’t involve you. is the bigger issue in Part 2.”

Someone else said, “Stop the wedding.” Do not marry this man. First, wow, he has credit card debt that he hasn’t paid off? He has a HABIT of living up to his means. Second, what is his is his, and what is yours is his? No way, honey. Third, what about the anger? You think you deserve better than him and that you will be “the burden” on him in the relationship. This man has all the signs of a classic narcissist.

“Your grandparents’ last gift to you wasn’t just the money; it was the knowledge of what kind of person this guy really is.” Lack of character, abusive, spoiled, and parasitic. Run.”
