There may have been something familiar about Princess Kate’s emotional video about being told she has cancer if you paid close enough attention.

People say that the princess chose the £650 ($821) sweater because it made her think of happier times and to show that she was more than just a princess. Kate was also a “school-run mum, a wife, and a homemaker.”

Kate told them the terrible news that she had been diagnosed with cancer while wearing jeans and a cozy sweater.

She made her emotional announcement weeks after the internet was full of conspiracy theories and rumors about where she was.

“I had major abdominal surgery in London in January. At the time, it was thought that my condition was not cancerous,” she began. “The surgery went well.” But tests done after the surgery showed that there was cancer. In light of this, my medical team suggested that I start a course of preventative chemotherapy, which I am now beginning.

Kate also said that she and Prince William “have been doing everything” they can to keep the news from other people.

“As you might guess, this has taken a while. I had to wait a while to start my treatment after having major surgery. Mostly, though, it took some time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that made sense for them and reassure them that I will be okay.

People were then told that she was not only “well,” but also “getting stronger every day.”

At the end of her sad video message, Kate asked for more privacy while she continued her treatment.

Because I’m getting treatment, my family and I need some time, space, and privacy. We hope you understand.” My job has always made me very happy, and I can’t wait to go back when I’m ready. For now, though, I need to focus on getting better.
