When a waitress sees two firefighters enter, she adds a note on the check that prompts them to act.

One of the most difficult occupations is that of a first responder. What they do for their communities is invaluable, and we should be grateful for their commitment and perseverance.

Firefighters Paul Hulling and Tim Young wanted to rest and eat after battling a violent fire at a warehouse in North Brunswick, New Jersey, for almost 12 hours. They stopped by Route 130 Diner. They talked about their day there, and Liz Woodward, the waitress who served them, overheard them.

Instead of a receipt, Liz offered them a handwritten note that read, “Your breakfast is on me today.” as they were about to depart. Thank you for everything you do for us, for serving us, and for going where no one else wants to go. You are fearless, brave, and strong, regardless of your role. Thank you for being fearless on a daily basis.”

The firefighters’ hearts were moved by this thoughtful gesture. Hulling was overcome with emotion and began to cry. Liz’s gesture demonstrated that someone cared about their work, which meant a lot to them.

They expressed their thanks, but it wasn’t the only thing they had to offer. Young, on the other hand, shared the post on Facebook and encouraged his friends to go to Route 130 Diner if they have the chance and pay Liz generously if she happens to be their waitress.

Aside from that, they discovered Liz had set up a GoFundMe page to assist her wheelchair-bound father. He had been disabled by a brain aneurysm, and she was doing everything she could to raise funds for a wheelchair-accessible van.

“He needs to be able to communicate with the rest of the world.” “He needs to get out of his hospital bed and see the world,” Liz said in the fundraiser’s description. Her initial target was $17,000, but thanks to Hulling and Young’s help, she was able to raise more than $86,500.

Liz replied, floods of delight streaming down her cheeks, “I don’t even know what to say to that.” “Wow, that’s wonderful – what a great way to start the day.” I had no idea how things were going to turn out today.”

“Our family has experienced an outpouring of love and support from around the world, and I want to thank each and every one of you amazing human beings for making our dream possible!” she said on GoFundMe.

“All I did was pay for their breakfast, and I didn’t expect anything would come of it except they would leave with a smile,” Liz told WPVI of the fantastic event and her act of kindness, which went a long way.
