Dallas went on to become one of the most well-known primetime soap operas in television history as a result of actress Victoria Principal’s well-known depiction as Pamela Barnes Ewing in the series.
On January 3, 1950, Victoria was born in Japan. She was born and spent her first few months of life in Fukuoka, where her father was a United States Air Force Sergeant stationed. Victoria attended 17 different schools during her formative years as a result of her family’s frequent migrations.
She made her first appearance in a television commercial when she was five years old; at the time, she had no idea that acting would become her career.
There are allegations that she didn’t have a nice childhood. This was due to her tumultuous mother-daughter relationship. I wish I had known my childhood would end, the actress remarked in a 2012 interview with Huffington Post. She reportedly said, “I felt really fortunate,” at one point. My parents raised me in a way that prevented me from ever becoming aware of my lack of equality.
When it came time to pick a job, Victoria decided to become a doctor, and she was making good progress toward her objective. But just as Victoria was about to complete her first year of college, she was gravely damaged in a car accident. She had to take some time off to heal, which meant she had to make up a lot of college coursework that she had missed. She didn’t feel like doing it right then.
One of her earliest cinematic roles was as Roy Bean’s mistress in Paul Newman’s The Lives and Times of Judge Roy Bean. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for best newcomer for this performance.
As she received more offers, Victoria moved on and started a career as a talent agent after realizing how time-consuming and hard acting was.
However, she was granted the role of Pamela Barnes Ewing around two years later.
I was heading to law school after quitting acting to work as an agent when a buddy dropped off a Dallas script, so I read it, the actress recalled. When I was finished, I noticed a change in my life. Over the phone, I told casting that I was sending someone in. Who, she wondered. Just put my name in, I asked. It will come as a pleasant surprise. And I unexpectedly showed up all by myself! “My own application was submitted!”
Victoria was elevated as a result of the series’ popularity. She was 28 years old when Dallas made its debut. She was nominated for several accolades, including two Soap Opera Digest accolades and a Golden Globe.
In 1987, Victoria finally departed the program. There were numerous justifications for her resignation. “It took a lot of effort to keep Victoria Principal and Pam Ewing apart. She told the New York Times in 1987 that finishing the course would “definitely seal my fate in the profession.”
Victoria married twice throughout her lifetime. Her first and second marriages disintegrated. Despite not having any children of her own, she is very close to her second husband’s son and daughter from a prior union.
She started Principal Secret, a skincare business that is now worth $1.5 billion annually, after leaving Dallas. According to sources, the actress is worth $350 million.
She did decide to resign after serving as the company’s CEO for many years in order to focus on her charity organization, The Victoria Principal Foundation for Thoughtful Existence. “I’m still fully devoted to expanding Principal Secret, my skincare company. Our 27th year in operation will soon be upon us. And I’ll never forget how Dallas helped me accomplish so many of my goals, she said in a 2018 TV Insider interview.
Despite being 72 years old, the actress nevertheless exudes a youthful charm and elegance. She is quite active on social media, sharing photos of herself, the animals she helps, and even older ones from when she was filming the show that had such a profound impact on her life.
