At her 50th birthday celebration this past weekend, Victoria Beckham was the center of attention, but some onlookers couldn’t help but notice her 12-year-old daughter Harper and how the girl has emulated her mother.

The preteen looked stylish in a satin spaghetti strap dress, accessorizing it with white open-toed heels and a white purse.

Her attire inadvertently caused a stir on the internet.

Harper was praised by many as “beautiful,” but many others criticized Victoria and David for letting their daughter dress in an age-inappropriate manner.

“She is a pretty girl, but in my opinion and people may think I am old fashioned, but I think the outfit is too old for her.”

“I think it’s a shame Harper was not wearing an age appropriate outfit including shoes. Harper is growing and soon will be taller than her mother.”

“She is 12yrs ..maybe something more suitable for her age to wear”

“She’s a child, she should be doing what other children do at 12 years old.”

“She’s 12…..she should be allowed to continue her childhood, not have her dress up in one of her mother’s cast off’s.”

Even though many people expressed their displeasure with Harper’s outfit, there were a number who came to her defense.

“she is dressed appropriately. It’s a formal occasion and even her shoes are age appropriate.”

“she was at a birthday party if you look she normally wears jeans and trainers she’s getting dressed up for a party like any other teenager”

“maybe Harper wanted to wear the outfit! Didn’t you want to wear outfits that you were considered to old for when you were 12. Maybe wearing outfits now, that are too young for you !!!!”
