According to Valerie Bertinelli, wearing jeans brought back memories of being “mercilessly humiliated” by an ex-lover.
The actor and Food Network star talked about her experience in a TikTok video.
“I’m chuckling because today I discovered a tiny hidden bruise. My pants are rubbing together and creating this noise, so I’m sure you can hear them,” she said.
She used to be able to chuckle about her attire choices, but not always.
She said, “I stopped wearing them because I was…mercilessly made fun of, like, ‘I’m too lazy to do anything about it.'” If you did, they wouldn’t get along, she stumbled.
She defined “hidden injuries” as “abuse of the mind, verbal, and emotions.”
People can’t see [them], but when they’re on, we have to deal with them every day, she said. “I’m very happy that my therapeutic work is having an impact.”
Bertinelli said that she was reluctant to publish such a piece out of concern that she would be advised to “move on,” but she had a message for anyone who had anything unfavorable to say: “This is called moving on. This is referred to as healing. And thank you to everyone who can relate to this and feels understood. I’m only one of your clan’s members.
The Hot in Cleveland star did not specifically mention any one ex-partner, but her remarks come just a few days after she talked about moving on from her divorce.
She commented on Instagram, “It’s agonizing, yet there’s this release that’s extremely healing. “I try all I can to heal from it — counseling, journaling, meditation, rolfing — because I think that a lot of emotional anguish is retained in the body.”
Six months after requesting a formal separation from her ex-husband Tom Vitale, Bertinelli filed for divorce in May 2022. She declared that she was commemorating the “second best day in my life”—the day she legally divorced Vitale—in November 2022.
“I’ve had enough. I’ve had enough of the narcissist. I’ve had enough of the narcissist.
