Our hearts are heavy as we mourn such an extraordinary loss

CNN political commentator Alice Stewart died suddenly. She was 58 years old.

Stewart’s body was found early Saturday morning in northern Virginia’s Belle View neighborhood.

The cause of death has not been found yet.

But there is no sign of foul play.

CNN reported that officials at the scene think Stewart may have had a medical emergency.

Stewart was called “a very dear friend and colleague” by the network’s CEO, Mark Thompson, in a memo sent to staff after the news of her death.

„A political veteran and Emmy Award-winning reporter who added a unique spark to CNN’s coverage. She was known across our bureaus not only for her political knowledge but also for her unwavering kindness.

“It breaks our hearts to think about such a terrible loss.”

Stewart was seen on CNN on Friday, not long before she died.

“It’s always a sunny day when you can join @mariacardonadc and the great @wolfblitzer on #CNN!” she wrote under a picture of the three of them on Instagram.

It turned out that the picture was her last post on the media site.

In the hours since Stewart’s death, both Blitzer and Cardona have spoken out.

According to Blitzer, she was always invited to appear on her show because they thought they would learn something from the conversation. Dean said this on CNN Newsroom.

“She helped people understand what was going on better, which is why we will miss her so much.”

She told Stewart that she and she were going to record an episode of their podcast together on Saturday.

Carona said on CNN Newsroom, “I just can’t believe that she’s gone.”

“I want everyone to know what a unique person she was, especially in this line of work.” You know that politics today can be so disgusting and filthy, and Alice was such a kind, bright person.

“WE’RE ALL SORRY”
After hearing the sad news, some of Stewart’s other CNN coworkers paid tribute to her.

CNN host Jim Acosta said on X (which used to be Twitter) that his “heart is broken.”

“We’ve known each other since the 2012 election.” We had so many wonderful weekends spent talking politics with @MariaTCardona. They were always so passionate, but they were also always polite and kind. I loved my friend Alice. Rest in peace.”

Alyssa Farah Griffin, another political commentator on CNN, is “gutted.”

“Alice Stewart was smart, sassy, funny, and most of all nice.” Griffin wrote, “She felt like she was from a different time, a better one where we could disagree with grace.”

“I’ll never forget how nice she was to me when I was down. Love to those who are closest to her.”

“Sad news about Alice Stewart, our beloved and talented commentator. Terrible. “That hurts all of us,” CNN’s Jake Tapper wrote.

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins agreed with that.

“I just heard terrible news about our coworker Alice Stewart. “Her kindness is the most important thing that people will remember about her,” Collins wrote.

“Alice and I worked together at CNN for years, and she was my favorite Republican,” wrote Keith Boykin.

“We didn’t always agree, but she was always polite and respectful.” “May she rest in peace.”

REPORTER TO THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS
Stewart started her job as a reporter and producer in Georgia, where she was born in Atlanta.

She later moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, to work as a news anchor.

Stewart then became the person in charge of communications for Governor Mike Huckabee.

She did the same thing when he ran for president in 2008.

Stewart was the communications director for both Michele Bachmann (Republican candidate for president in Minnesota) and Rick Santorum (Republican candidate for president in Pennsylvania) during their 2012 campaigns.

The last job she had was as communications director for Ted Cruz’s 2016 campaign for senator in Texas.

Since 2016, before the election, Stewart has been a political commentator on CNN.

A number of politicians, including Cruz, have sent their condolences.

It breaks my heart. Alice was wonderful, smart, and a dear friend. “She loved America very much,” he wrote.

“She loved every moment of her life, and we will miss her a lot.” May God’s comfort and peace be with her family and friends. Rest in peace.”

Chris Christie, who used to be governor of New Jersey, wrote that the news “stunned and saddened” him.

“She was very knowledgeable about politics and a great person to talk to about anything.” Christie went on, “I will miss Alice and pray for her family.”

(“AWFUL NEWS”)
On social media, Stewart fans have shared their sadness over the shocking death.

“I am very sorry to hear about Alice Stewart. When it comes to political news and views, we will all miss her lively personality. “The political world is a little less bright,” someone wrote on X, which used to be Twitter.

Someone else wrote, “I’m still processing this terrible news.”

“My deep, heartfelt condolences to her loved ones.”

“A real asset to CNN’s lineup,” said someone else about Stewart.

May the thought of her bring you peace.
