His family said that BONEY M founder Frank Farian had died at the age of 82.
Rasputin and Daddy Cool were two of the singer and music producer’s hits. He died peacefully in his Miami, Florida, apartment.
During his decades-long career, Farian worked with many famous artists, such as Stevie Wonder and Meat Loaf.
The producer had sold more than 800 million records and was also the founder of the famous R&B band Milli Vanilli in the 1980s.
Liz Mitchell, the original lead singer of Boney M, paid tribute to the late musician with love.
“Our work was truly blessed and so enjoyed by people around the world who had the chance to hear it down the years,” she said today from her home in Oxfordshire.
“The testimonies come from the hearts of those who heard it, and I’m so thankful to the God of music that let us work together to make Boney M.’s music and share it with the world.”
“We shared and came together under a star that was brighter than anything we could have imagined.”
“I think the work we did was great. Frank, please rest in peace.
Farian’s health had been getting worse for a while after he had heart surgery in 2022 and a pig heart valve was put in.
In his last interview with Bild, a German newspaper, in November, the musician talked about how the surgery saved his life.
“The valve in my heart works great.”
“Mick Jagger got the exact same heart valve too.” I’m a good pig! He said, “And I’m very thankful for that.”
Bild reported that Farian’s condition has gotten worse since the surgery.
At some point, he had to use a wheelchair and breathing equipment because he had lost so much weight.
He also had trouble talking.
Ingrid “Milli” Segieth, 69, saw Frank Farian in Miami over the New Year. She is his best friend and ex-partner.
Even though he was sick, he was still doing well when they left for Germany a few days ago.
“Frank was hurt very badly, but he was still very active,” Segieth told Bild.
“He worked on new music all day in the recording studio again.”
