Kevin Sullivan, a legendary wrestler, died at the age of 74. He had an accident in May that left him with a lot of problems that he never got better from.
WWE announced Thursday morning that The Taskmaster had died, which led to a flood of tributes to the former World Championship Wrestling star.
The wrestler’s daughter, Nicole, told the public last month that he had a “devastating accident” in May while in Florida signing autographs. His family then set up a GoFundMe to help him.
Nicole wrote on the fundraiser page, “He had emergency surgery that saved his leg and life, but he had serious complications like sepsis and encephalitis.”

“Kevin has been in and out of consciousness in the ICU, far from home, and this unplanned disaster has put a huge financial strain on his family.”
“Kevin has shown incredible strength in the face of these problems.” Even after months, he is still trying to get his freedom back.
Over $54,000 was raised through the fundraiser, which has since been turned off, to help pay for the family’s medical bills.
The WWE said in a statement that Kevin was a “unique and influential figure in sports-entertainment history.”
THANK YOUS COME IN
People in the wrestling world and fans are both honoring Sullivan on social media.

“Kevin Sullivan had one of the most unique minds in the history of our industry, pushing creative boundaries and developing some of the most intriguing characters to step into the ring,” Triple H said about X.
“He was always excited about what we do.” His family, friends, and fans are in my thoughts.
“I’m so sorry to hear about Kevin Sullivan’s death. Kevin, please rest in peace! You were a great friend and athlete all the way through!” Ric Flair said.
Mark Henry, who is in the WWE Hall of Fame, wrote, “Prayers out to the family! Rest in peace!”
Nicole added to the GoFundMe on July 15 with news that Sullivan was “regaining a lot of physical strength.”
“He does physical and occupational therapy daily, with the goal and ultimate hope that he regains his independence.”

A message of hope was sent by Flair about Sullivan on X the day before his death was made public.
“Kevin Sullivan Has Been One Of My Closest Friends In The Business,” Flair said.

“He knows more about sports in general than anyone else, not just wrestling.” In the history of our company, he has one of the smartest minds.
“Kevin led WCW to a 15-month win over WWE and fought huge stars like Hall, Nash, The NWO, Eric Bischoff, Ric Flair, The Nature Boy, and Hulk Hogan!

“Kevin, stay strong!” We need you!”
He was a wrestler for more than sixty years, but he was best known for being a WCW promoter.

Sullivan’s wife Linda and four children will miss him.

His family hasn’t said anything yet, and it’s still not clear what killed him.
