People loved John Marino as a member of Elvis Duran and the Morning Show. He died at the age of 82.
The radio show in New York City said that Marino, who was better known as Uncle Johnny, died on Friday.
“This morning we say goodbye to our Uncle Johnny,” the Z100 morning show wrote on social media.
“Thank you for all the laughs and cocktails over the years.” We love and miss you.
“Today, Uncle Johnny was welcomed into heaven at 7:25 am as a cherished angel,” Marino’s family member Jack Carr wrote on Facebook in honor of the beloved radio host.
“He made me laugh and smile all the time for more than 25 years.”
“Seeing him has made my life better because he is my best friend and uncle.”
“Uncle Johnny touched many people’s lives during his 82 years on earth and left behind a great legacy.”
“Everyone who knew and loved him will miss him a lot.” Uncle Johnny, may you rest in peace with a cold martini in your hand.
The cause of death was not given right away.
People loved Marino’s lively personality on Elvis Duran’s morning talk show.
He would regularly appear on the show that was broadcast all over the country.
“Hello lady” and “What are ya, bananas?” were some of the show’s catchphrases that Marino came up with.
During his normal time slot on Fridays, the lively guest would be in the studio making creative cocktails.
The morning show on New York’s Z100 began with Elvis Duran in 1996.
Duran, Danielle Monaro, Skeery Jones, and Scotty B are just a few of the original cast members who are still on the show.
Marino was praised by Duran’s morning show fans on social media. One wrote, “I’m a taxi driver and I picked him up years ago.”
“He was such a great and fun person.” Uncle Johny, may you rest in peace.
“He made so many people happy!” Someone else said, “May he rest in peace!”
“Goodbye, Lady!” It’s been a pleasure to listen to him for so long. “My condolences to the whole Z100 and Elvis Duran Show family,” wrote a third.
