How to Teach an Entitled Neighbor a Lesson

How to Teach an Entitled Neighbor a Lesson

My whole world turned upside down when my mom called to tell me that my grandfather had a heart attack. I love my grandpa very much, and the thought of him being in the hospital broke my heart. I was so worried that the drive to the hospital seemed like it would never end. The surgery went well, thank goodness, but the doctor stressed how important it was for Grandpa to recover, including eating well and not being too stressed.

Grandpa could go home, but his house was in a different town. It was great to have a full-time nurse, but we couldn’t visit him as often as we’d like. I felt like giving him a surprise visit after not seeing him for two months.

When we got to his apartment complex, I saw something that made me angry: someone had written something mean on Grandpa’s car. The man was so sick and old that he couldn’t even get out of bed, let alone clean his car. What kind of person could be so cold?

I was determined to find the person responsible, so I asked for the security camera footage and learned that it was Briana from 4C, who is known for causing trouble. That wasn’t the first time she went after Grandpa. As it turned out, she had been upset over nothing and trying to make him follow rules that weren’t necessary.

That was enough. I told Briana what she did was wrong, but she didn’t feel bad about it. After that, I chose to do something about it myself. With proof and a roll of duct tape in hand, I made a sign that showed what she did and put it in the elevator for everyone to see.

As quickly as the sign went up, everyone in the complex learned that Briana was mistreating her elderly neighbors. A lot of people avoided her, and the whole building talked about her, but not in a good way.

When I went to see Grandpa again, I heard other residents talking about Briana’s behavior. I couldn’t help but smile because justice had been done. Grandpa even talked about the drama, but he didn’t know it was all my fault.

I learned from this that you have to fight fire with fire sometimes. Dealing with rude people like Briana won’t get better just by being nice to them. The only way to make a real difference is to stand up for what’s right and call them out on their behavior.

What would you do if you were me?
