Let’s say you regularly watch the Today program. If so, you’ve probably noticed that co-host Hoda Kotb has been absent from the morning show for almost two weeks without giving a reason.
Her absence was explained by her coworkers.
“We are aware that many of you are interested in Hoda’s health. We can vouch for Hoda’s good health. On Wednesday morning, Craig Melvin revealed that she had been dealing with a family health crisis.
Kotb, 58, made her final live appearance on Today on February 17 even though she did appear on a pre-recorded Today with Hoda and Jenna program that aired on February 20, President’s Day.
Since then, no one—not even Kotb—has provided an explanation for her jarring absence. Fans were left wondering where she went and what she did because she left no traces.
During her downtime, the Today show co-host continued to share inspirational quotes on Instagram. She recently released the song “Choose Hope.”
Others asked if Kotb was adopting yet another child.
Prior to the major revelation, she took a break and hinted about the adoption.
Kotb’s absence of almost two weeks and Savannah Guthrie’s abrupt exit from Tuesday’s show (she tested positive for COVID) were briefly discussed by Melvin.
“We saw Savannah and Hoda are both missing. Savannah is now at home following yesterday’s positive COVID test. We are praying for our friend to get better quickly,” he said.
And while we’re on the subject of Hoda, we know that many of you have been wondering how she is doing. We can vouch for Hoda’s good health. Hoda has been dealing with a family health problem, but we expect to see her and Savannah back at the desk very soon.
In addition, Al Roker said, “We love you both.”
Jenna Bush Hager and Willie Geist said on Today with Hoda and Jenna that they had heard all the concerns and wanted to reassure them that Hoda was okay.
She is only navigating a health issue inside her family.
I sincerely hope that Hoda’s experiences turn out positively. I hope she knows how many people are praying for her and her family right now.
