Even though Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are currently very in love, there was a point when Stefani was unaware that Shelton even existed.
The country singer only started hanging out with her after he was hired as a coach for NBC’s singing competition “The Voice,” according to her.
Stefani, who is back on the show this season as a coach, admitted to Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM “Radio Andy” show that she had never heard of the man before the show. “I didn’t even realize he was a human on this earth,” the speaker said.
Stefani praised the two for coming from extremely different artistic and personal backgrounds.
It’s absurd. Now it’s normal, I guess,” she added. “I’ve come to terms with the fact that he’s a real redneck and all that”
She continued, “I simply enjoy that we’re from diverse genres.
Stefani acknowledged that she was unsure of what to expect from their collaborative efforts. (The two are now coaches alongside Kelly Clarkson and John Legend.)
She stated, “I felt it was going to be (more) this time because I feel like we’re so deep into the relationship and it’s been so long since I’ve been on the show and I didn’t know how we would be just us and competing.
Although she formerly felt uncomfortable performing or working in front of the country star, the former No Doubt frontwoman claims she won’t be.
She recalled their 2016 hit: “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” which they had written together when they first met. “I recall that when he arrived, we were about to perform it for the first time. We had rarely even spent time together, to be honest. While he played the guitar, I believe I perspired through every inch of clothing while trying to sing.
We didn’t even write this song together when we did it, she continued. He emailed me a verse, and I responded by texting him the song’s verse that answered it. That was undoubtedly thrilling. I suppose excitement outweighs anxiety.
Stefani described her beau as “simply so amazing”.
Blake truly is a unicorn. People just seem to be drawn to him everywhere he goes, she claimed. He has such amazing talent.
