A 77-year-old soap opera actor named Nick Benedict passed away suddenly, and his cause of death has been established.
The Days of Our Lives actor, who had also been in All My Children and The Young and the Restless, was said to have died on July 14 in Arizona at the age of 77 due to complications after emergency spine surgery, according to an online obituary.
His wife of 22 years, Ginger, a bartender at Jake’s Steakhouse in California, also shared the news of his passing on Facebook. It was Nick Benedict’s birthday on July 14. He entered the Lord’s presence today. The post asked for prayers for Ginger.
The restaurant also started a GoFundMe campaign before Nick passed away to assist the couple with their financial needs. Ginger was forced to take time off work due to Nick’s “extreme medical issue”.
“Many of you have already met Jake’s Steakhouse’s bartender, Ginger. She has been working with us for a while. According to the fundraising page, “She has taken a leave of absence from us to deal with a serious medical issue with her husband Nick.”

“Nick had emergency spinal cord surgery on July 2nd. On July Fourth, he was admitted to the hospice. His neck down is paralyzed. He will need constant care and support.

To help with bills, food, and any unforeseen medical expenses, we wish to raise money. Please pray for Ginger and Nick as they go through this incredibly difficult time.
Many individuals, including a cameraman who worked with Nick on All My Children, paid tribute to the soap opera star. We are the same age, Nick, and what a beautiful person. Like any other male, he went out with the crew. Nick, thanks for making work more enjoyable.
“We have known Ginger and Nick for 19 years, ever since they moved to Bear Valley,” said another. They were always a lot of fun and played a huge role in the neighborhood. I’m truly sorry.
From 1973 through 1978, Nick portrayed Phil Brent, Erica Kane’s husband in All My Children. He was portrayed by Susan Lucci. He played Michael Scott in The Young and the Restless from 1981 to 1983 before making his Days of Our Lives debut as Curtis Reed in 1993. In 2001, he departed the program.
He also appeared in the first seasons of Mission Impossible and Hawaii Five-O, as well as Entourage, The Fall Guy, The Dukes of Hazzard, Knots Landing, Medical Center, and Tales from the Darkside.
