The granddaughter of country music star Loretta Lynn has died at the age of 64 after a long illness.
Lynn Massey was the daughter of Loretta’s first child, Betty Sue, who died in 2013.
Lisa Lynn’s Instagram page posted the sad news about Lynn Massey’s death on Instagram on Friday.
“Betty Sue’s daughter Lynn Massey, Loretta’s first grandchild, passed away this week after a long and difficult health battle,” it said.
“Our family is so grateful for the prayers and love continually shown to us.”
Lynn’s grandmother, country music star Loretta Lynn, died two years before her death in 2022.
Many people sent their condolences after hearing about her death, saying that she is now with her grandmother and mother.
One fan said, “Prayers to your family; she’s with grandma now.”
Someone else said, “Loretta and Betty are holding her right now!”
At this point, no new information has been released about Lynn’s exact health problems.
Health problems have been going on in Loretta’s family for a long time.
Becky Sue, Lynn’s mother, died of complications from emphysema.
Jack, Lynn’s uncle, drowned in Tennessee’s Duck River and died in 1984.
Ernest “Ernie” Ray, Loretta’s son, recently got better after surgery for kidney failure earlier this year.
On August 10, Ernie’s wife Crystal Lynn told his fans that he is feeling better in a video.
Ernie just smiled and joked with his wife and said, “I’m good,” while he was driving.
LORETTA’S STORY
Even though there have been deaths and health problems in the Lynn family, Loretta’s influence lives on through her children and grandchildren.
In the 1990s, Patsy and Peggy Lynn, Loretta’s children, started a country band called The Lynns.
The daughter of Patsy, Emmy Russell, also chose to become a musician.
During season 22 of American Idol, Emmy showed off her amazing singing skills and talked about her family ties to the late country star.
Emmy sang “Coal Mine’s Daughter,” a song written by her grandmother, on the show.
Because of how well Emmy did, the singer made it to the Top 5 before she was sent home on May 12.
Emmy’s single “Redemption” came out on May 18, not long after she was eliminated.
