82-year-old Sir Cliff Richard, who had lived with Bill Latham for 30 years as a friend and former manager, commented on Facebook on Friday to express his sorrow over his demise. The musician credited his late religious studies instructor with helping him find the “spiritual pathway” that changed his life.

He gave me examples of the importance of kindness and the virtue of having the guts to publicly express my ideas. Bill was somebody you could rely on, and I did so quite a bit.

The singer went on to say that Bill would be “greatly missed” and that he “will live on in the many hearts of those that loved and respected him…my heart being one of them.”

Bill and Sir Cliff lived in the singer’s home on the St. George’s Hill estate in Weybridge, Surrey, where they originally met in the 1960s, where they stayed until Bill moved out to be with his wife in 1996.

Cliff addressed romance allegations in 2008, according to Mail Online, and said: “When Bill and I shared a house, there were always stories about what people believed our real relationship was, but what nobody recognized was that Bill’s girlfriend was also living with us.

Richard started the debate by asking Sir Cliff why it took him so long to release a Christmas record.

The artist clarified: “If you keep doing Christmas CDs, it may get pretty boring. I’ve recently listened to a variety of Christmas songs, but they don’t really make me feel festive.

“You are aware now,” Sir Cliff added in reference to the reaction of the populace. The only thing left to do is wait and anticipate the public’s response.

Sir Cliff’s 20-year-old yearly Christmas calendar suddenly came up, and Cliff said that it “must come to an end” eventually.

“You’re not only talking about Christmas,” the GMB host said. The calendar is, of course, a gift that never passes away.
