The YouTube comics historian whose real name was Ben Potter has died at the age of 40, according to his wife.
Nathalie Potter told her husband’s social media followers about the sad news on Monday, saying that the popular YouTube comedian had died in a “unfortunate accident.”
On June 8, Nathalie’s husband Ben Potter died in a terrible accident. This was the start of her statement.
“To many of you, he was Comicstorian because he read stories from a lot of different forms.” For his family and friends, he was one of the kindest and most helpful people anyone could ask for.
“His channel was one of his greatest accomplishments, and while we all need our time to mourn him, I know he wouldn’t want it to end like this,” she said.
Natalie says that she and Potter’s team are working on a plan to keep his channel going, but it hasn’t been made public yet.
“Ben spent over 10 years spreading his love and appreciation for his hobbies,” she noted.
“That’s something my team and I want to keep up. To keep the memory of our very own superhero alive and to honor him by telling more great stories by great people, she said.
“We supported each other on everything we wanted to do and I’m not about to stop now.”
When fans heard the sad news, they quickly went online to honor the YouTuber.
One fan on Reddit wrote, “I’ve never been so sad over the death of a celebrity before.”
“One of the few YouTube channels I really liked.” “He seemed like a great guy. I’m sorry for your loss,” said someone else.
Someone else wrote, “I was just listening to Absolutely Comics at lunch.”
“I am legit shocked and saddened.”
It’s still not clear what killed Potter.
“COMIX NERD”
Potter, who was 40 years old, had over three million YouTube subscribers and called himself a comic book fan. He also hosted two podcasts about comics called The Weekly Pull and Absolute Comics.
He turned his love of comics into a job by making audio dramas on YouTube, which got a lot of people who weren’t into the genre before to start.
“Ben’s videos were the main reason why I got into reading comics,” a post said.
Potter also made explainer videos in which he talked about the history and background of different comics, universes, and characters.
He also had a vlog called “Myself,” a gaming channel called “Eligible Monster Gaming,” a manga channel called “Mangastorian,” and a rant channel called “Benny Has A Problem.”
There have been over 51,000 views and almost 4,000 comments on Potter’s most recent video, which was posted just three days ago. Most of the comments are condolences and thanks for all that Potter has done for comics and comic book fans.
