Before getting off the plane, the pilot sees the last person inside. Story of the Day: Who Is an Exact Copy of Him?
Captain Edward Blair saw a man on the plane who wouldn’t leave before getting off the plane he had just landed. When he looked more closely, he saw that the man was an exact copy of him.
“Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. The voice in this room is Captain Edward Blair. We just got off the plane at Midway International Airport in Chicago. “We hope you enjoyed your flight with us, and we hope to see you on one of your next flights,” the captain said from the cockpit as the plane touched down.
As per standard procedure, the captain and first officer waited for all passengers to get off the plane before leaving the cockpit. When it was their turn to leave, he opened the door to the cockpit and saw the flight attendant talking to a man who wouldn’t get off the plane.
“Everything good here?” Edward asked as he walked up to them.
The flight attendant gave a nod. “I’ll give you guys some time,” she said with a smile as she walked to the back of the plane.
At first, Edward didn’t understand why she wanted to leave him with the passenger by himself. But then he got it. A man who looked just like him stood there. The man spoke before he could say anything.
He asked, “Do you want to see mom?”
“I’m shocked. Adam, is that you? When did mom come back? She’s still alive and well?” Edward replied, his mind being filled with a lot of ideas at once.
The twin brother of Edward, Adam, was there. Edward hadn’t seen Adam in many years. Edward moved out when he was eight years old, and they were now 32 years old.
“First I asked you a question.” Want to see your mom?” Adam asked again in a hurried way.
After Edward gave him the go-ahead, Adam got off the plane. Edward came after him, and the two of them got into a taxi and drove into the city.
Adam didn’t say a word the whole way there. At the same time, Edward couldn’t help but try to explain himself while his eyes were wet.
“I thought she would never come back after she left us at the orphanage.” I did not want to have high hopes. I knew she couldn’t feed us because our dad had left, but I thought she left us because she wanted to leave us too. “Adam, I didn’t think she’d ever come back,” he said.
“So you agreed to be taken in by a wealthy family instead.” You picked them over ME! I begged you for days not to leave me there, but you chose to be comfortable over putting your own life at risk. Adam replied, “She came back a year after you left because she couldn’t forgive herself for losing you.”
“Until now, she’s been mad at herself for not having enough to keep you. I hate you, don’t get me wrong. I hate you just as much as I hate our dad. The last time I looked for you was years ago, but when I heard your name on that plane, I thought of how much my mom wanted to see you.
The taxi finally stopped after a short time. Adam got out of the car and sped off toward an old house, which caught Edward off guard. He found out that his mother and brother were poor.
Adam had a girlfriend of a long time, but he couldn’t ask her to marry him because he worked a lot and took care of his sick mother. He’s always wanted to get married and have kids, but he owed his mom a lot and wanted to make sure she had a good life for the rest of her days.
As soon as they walked into the house, Edward saw his mother Annie sitting in the living room in a wheelchair. She broke down in tears when she saw both of her sons together in the same room.
This is Edward. Oh my god, it’s you. Adam, both you and your brother are here. She cried and pushed her wheelchair closer to her sons. “You’re back!”
“He’s not back, mom.” “He just stopped by to see you, but he’ll be back at his house by the end of the night,” Adam told his mom as he poured her a glass of water to calm down.
It didn’t take Edward long to walk up to his mom, hug her, and beg her to forgive him. “Sorry, mom. I’m sorry I didn’t believe you when you said you’d get us. He cried, “I wish you could forgive me.”
“Son, I don’t blame you. I completely understand why you feel that way. I’m sorry I couldn’t give you and Adam a good life from the start. I wish I could, but it was really hard for me to get a job. I’m sorry, sweetheart. His mother said, “I’m so glad you’re here,” stroking his hair as they hugged.
“Would you like to spend the night?” We need to catch up on a lot of things. She told him, “I’d love for you to spend more time with us.”
“I’m sorry, mom, but I need to go home tonight.” We will be moving to France because I got a job there. My last flight here was back to Chicago. “I think Adam being on the flight was meant to be because I got to see you,” he said.
Annie was very sad when she learned that her son was moving to Europe. “You’re leaving?” she asked in a weak voice. “I wish we had met sooner… “I’m sorry we didn’t have more time together.”
“Sorry, mom. I’ll try to see you as often as I can. Edward said, “I’m sorry again. I’m sure I’ll have flights to the US.”
“Don’t give her false hopes.” At her age, she doesn’t deserve to be sad. Escape!” Adam replied when he realized that his brother only wanted to see their mother and not get to know her.
A couple of days after they met, Adam saw a moving company show up at the house next door to theirs and start loading furniture and appliances inside.
“Mom, it looks like someone bought the house next door to ours.” He told her, “We’ll soon have new neighbors.”
Annie was happy because she had always wanted neighbors. She liked to bake and wanted to share the treats she made with other people.
They were shocked, though, when the man who came after them soon after in a fancy car turned out to be Edward. Annie and Adam opened their front door to talk to him. “What are you doing here?” Adam asked his brother.
“When I told my wife what happened, we both realized that this wasn’t our home in France, but here.” That French airline job offer didn’t work out for me. Instead, I told my adoptive parents I wanted to move somewhere in Chicago. “They got it and said they’d stay in touch while they enjoyed their retirement in Europe,” Edward said.
“I’m sorry I never found you, mom. There are many times I’ve done wrong, but I hope you’ll give me a chance to show you that I’m not a bad person and that I really want to spend time with you. Adam, I also want to get back in touch with you. I’m your brother. “If you’ll let me, I will show you how much I love you both,” he said.
Annie started to cry because she couldn’t believe it. Edward brought Annie and Adam together with his wife Emma and their young daughter Alex, which made their hearts warm. Annie met up with Alex and Emma, and Adam and Edward had a great conversation.
“I know you don’t trust me at all, Adam, but please give me this chance to prove to you that I have good intentions for you and mom,” he asked.
“I’m ready to let go of my problems from the past for my mom’s sake.” “All that matters to me is that she looks happy,” Adam said.
When Adam and Edward saw each other again, Edward learned that Adam wanted to marry his long-term girlfriend. They asked him to watch over their mother in the house next door while Adam worked on his own relationship.
Edward fixed up Adam’s house, and the changes made it look brand new. While Edward and his family took care of Annie next door, Adam started to work on his personal life. Everyone in the family would get together every night for a meal and to talk.
