Rebbeca Boening: On Wednesday in the early afternoon, as I was traveling west on I-40, my blood sugar level fell dangerously.
Fortunately, there was a Burger King restaurant just next to the exit. I indicated to the voice on the speaker that I had diabetes and needed sustenance as I stumbled through placing my order.
Having low blood sugar makes it challenging to think or move. To pay for my food, I parked my car and approached the first window. I was startled to see Tina Hardy, a Burger King employee, coming toward the front of my vehicle.
Just to serve me a little serving of ice cream, she squished between the front of my car and the building.
Later, Tina revealed that her husband also had diabetes and that she had recognized my need for assistance. I pulled up to Tina’s window after paying, and she gave me my lunch.
She gave me the go-ahead to park across the driveway so she could watch over me while I recovered.
I waited for a lull in business after eating before going back to Tina’s window. I immediately grabbed this picture and told Tina’s manager what she had done for me.
