Jane Fonda, an actress, former model, and climate activist, disclosed she had been given a cancer diagnosis. The 84-year-old Oscar winner shared with her followers on Instagram that she started receiving chemo treatments six months ago and is doing well.
“Well, my dear friends, I want to share something with you that is personal. My non-lymphoma Hodgkin’s diagnosis and chemo treatments have begun, the Grace and Frankie actress wrote in an Instagram post. She continued, “This is a fairly treatable cancer, so I feel extremely lucky.”
She went on to express her gratitude for her “lucky” situation, stating that she is fortunate to have access to the best medical professionals and therapies. “I have access to the top physicians and therapies because to my health insurance. I am aware of my privilege in this, and it hurts,” she added.
The actress continued, “Nearly every family in America has dealt with cancer at some point, and far too many do not have access to the quality health care I am receiving. This is wrong.”
In her essay, she stated, “Cancer is a teacher and I’m paying attention to the lessons it contains for me.” “It has already taught me the value of community, one thing. fostering a deeper sense of community to ensure that we are not alone. And having cancer and being so close to 85 years old surely emphasize the value of adjusting to new circumstances.
Non-lymphoma Hodgkin’s is a type of cancer that starts in your lymphatic system, which is a component of the body’s immune system that fights infection, according to the Mayo Clinic. White blood cells called lymphocytes proliferate improperly in non-Hodgkin lymphoma and can develop growths (tumors) throughout the body.
Through social media, Fonda’s friends and other celebrities expressed their support and affection for her.
Wishing you healing energy, love, and strength, Debra Messing wrote.
Sending you more love and strength than you can handle, Alyssa Milano wrote. If you need anything, give me a call. Always present. Always.”
We adore you, Jane,” said Diane Keaton in a letter to Jane. My hero is you. You’re a fighter. I have always been in awe of what you accomplish. I’ll never stop admiring you for being the crusader you always have been and always will be.
It’s not the first time that Fonda has battled cancer. In 2010, she received a breast cancer diagnosis, and in 2018, she underwent surgery to remove a tumor on her lips.
We hope Jane Fonda succeeds and battles cancer once more.
