SOLDIER Colin Bennett, a star on BBC’s shows for kids, has died.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Colin was known for his part as Mr. Bennett, Hart’s caretaker, on the BBC show Take Hart and its spin-off, Hartbeat.
His son Tom Bennett, who plays roles in EastEnders and After Life, told everyone on Friday night that his dad had died.
In a post on X, he said, “My Dad, Mr. Bennett, died two weeks ago today.” I still don’t know what to say. “He was my hero.”
“He has no idea how much I miss him.” “I love you, Dad.”
Hart Beat ran from 1984 to 1989, and Take Hart ran from 1977 to 1983.
Bennett has also been in TV shows like Luna, You Should Be So Lucky, and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
Fans showed their love for the legendary actor by talking about how he changed their lives as kids.
“Bless you, man,” said one. We ALL loved your dad. We all had a lot of fun as kids. Lots of love to you and your family!”
“I’m sorry for your loss, Tom,” said someone else. “He was such a happy and familiar part of so many kids’ lives.”
“Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that,” said a third. A lot of people my age will feel the same way about him: he was a part of my childhood. Our condolences go out to you and your family.
“I had no idea the outpouring of love would be so huge!” Tom wrote in response to the flood of love from fans.
Thank you so much for your kind words. They have made me cry in the happiest way possible.
“He was a special man & I’m so proud & it’s bringing me so much joy he meant so much to so many of you.”
