Fans of football were happy about the Super Bowl last weekend, but many families in Kansas City had a sad ending to the event.
The Missouri Chiefs won their nail-biting game against the San Francisco 49ers. Taylor Swift, Blake Lively, and Reba McEntire were among the famous people who watched in anticipation.

In Kansas City, people celebrated the important event with a parade. But everything came crashing down when at least 20 people, mostly children, were shot and killed in a mass shooting.

There was a terrible turn of events during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade, which left the community in shock. Local DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a beloved mother of two and football fan, was killed for no reason, making the event a day of mourning.
Sky News reports that Lopez-Galvan was shot in the abdomen at the end of the celebrations for the Chiefs’ parade. Even though she had surgery, she tragically died from her injuries, leaving a hole in her close-knit community.
Lopez-Galvan was a DJ on KKFI 90.1 FM and hosted the popular show “A Taste of Tejano.” She was known for being lively and loving music. There was a lot of sadness at the station when she died suddenly. They talked about how much she meant to the community and how she will be missed.
“It is with deep sadness and a very heavy and broken heart that we let our community know that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez, host of “Taste of Tejano,” lost her life today in the shooting at the KC Chiefs’ rally,” KKFI 90.1 FM wrote on Facebook.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas spoke out about his deep sadness over the tragedy, pointing out that the violence that ruined what should have been a happy event for the town was not targeted.

CNN reported that two people have been arrested and will be questioned by police as they continue their investigation into the shooting.

The news source says that police think the shooting may have started after a fight between several people.
Thirty people were taken to four hospitals after the shooting, and 19 of them had gunshot wounds. Eleven of those kids, aged six to fifteen, were taken to Children’s Mercy hospital. Nine of them had been shot.
