Ten years after Robin Williams’s sad death, Billy Connolly talked about the actor’s sad last words.
Robin Williams was one of the best actors and comedians of all time. He died ten years ago.
Millions of people were moved by this artist who seemed to be bigger than life. His laugh made everyone else laugh, and his smile spread like wildfire. So, when he killed himself, his fans couldn’t understand how someone so happy and fun could die in such a horrible way.
The story was more complicated than it seemed at first.
Williams did not have Prskinson’s disease as doctors said he did during his life. Instead, the autopsy showed that he had Lewy Body Dementia (LBD), a neurological disease in which protein deposits called Lewy bodies form in nerve cells in parts of the brain that control movement, thinking, and memory.
Williams’ health began to get worse in the last few years of his life. On set, the man who could remember thousands of lines perfectly began to have trouble remembering things. It was too bad that that made him very angry and anxious. His son Zak told Max Lugavere for the podcast The Genius Life, “It was a time of intense searching and frustration for him.” This was reported by Fox News. “That’s just terrible.”

Susan Schneider Williams, William’s wife, also talked about the actor’s wrong diagnosis. “All four doctors I talked to afterward who had looked over his records said he had one of the worst conditions they had ever seen.” “About 40% of his dopamine neurons were gone, and almost none of the neurons in his brain and brainstem were free of Lewy bodies,” she wrote for Neurology.
Susan talked about Williams’ health before he died. She said it got worse and worse, and no one knew what to expect next. It started with stomach cramps, heartburn, and other digestive issues for the actor. Later, he developed a resting tremor in his left hand, which was thought to be caused by an old shoulder injury.
Recent news reports say that the actor’s last days were painful and chaotic. Susan said that her husband was “living a nightmare…”
William’s death made his close friends sad. They talked about William’s choice to kill himself. Sir Billy Connolly said, “You have to give a guy the chance that he’s smart enough to make up his own mind.” He said, “I don’t think so” when asked if he wouldn’t have tried to save his life.
The actor Connolly has Parkinson’s disease, the same disease Williams was wrongly diagnosed with. He said that he and the late actor used to talk on the phone about how much they loved and respected each other.
William called Connolly the week before he died and asked him to come over for dinner.
“He called me and said, ‘Let’s have dinner.’ During dinner, he told me, ‘I love you.’” I said thank you. “Do you believe me?” he asked. I replied, “Of course I do.” “Believe me, I love you,” he told her. “That’s great,” I said.
“I didn’t understand why he would say that; it wasn’t like him at all.” “He died over the weekend,” Connolly said.
Rest in peace, Robin Williams. We will miss you always.
