This past week, there was a new trend among TikTok women. Women put vaginal secretions all over their bodies in a process called “vabbing.” Some say it’s the best perfume for finding a sexual partner. Scientists don’t believe it as much.

There have been many recipes made over the years that are supposed to help women find a partner. One might have thought they had tried everything, from love potions to home-cooked meals.

There is, however, a new TikTok trend going around. It is shown in the videos that these women are vaping as a way to take care of themselves. In short, “vabbing” means putting on your vaginal secretions like you would perfume. They swear that it helps them get sexually interested in someone.

“The Game of Desire” is the name of a book that Shan Boodram wrote. She uses what she knows as a sexologist to explain the idea of vaping in this book. Boodram says she has been vabbing for 15 years and that it has helped her find a partner. “If chemicals released by the vagina are used as perfume, it will attract men who are usually interested in women with vulvae,” Boodram wrote. This is what she also said: “I am sure that every time I use it, it makes me feel like a magical goddess with a tasty secret.”

After that, a woman named Mandy Lee made a TikTok video about it. More than a million people looked at her post. “I swear that if you vape, you’ll get dates or one-night stands with people.” “Either that, or you’ll get free drinks all night,” Mandy said in her video. Also, people who have been vabbing for years commented on their stories, confirming that it works. For example, @jewlieah on TikTok said that she “vabbed” every day for a week and that the method worked for her.

Does it work?

What you shouldn’t do when you vape

If vaping sounds like something you’d like to do, here are some things to keep in mind. Dr. Dimitriadi from the Center for Surgery confirmed that “vabbing” is not bad for you. Making sure your hands are clean is very important, though. Dr. Dimirtiadi said, “If you use dirty fingers inside your vagina to pick up discharge, you could really hurt the tissue there.” “But they can also spread germs, which could lead to something as serious as a pelvic inflammatory disease.” You might also get bacterial vaginosis or thrush from having dirty fingers. She also said, “If you have bacterial vaginosis or thrush, your discharge may smell bad and won’t help you find a partner.”
