The mistress of my husband sent me a box for my birthday, and what I found inside shocked me.

On my 32nd birthday, an odd box showed up at my door. It was supposedly sent by my husband’s mistress. What I found inside shocked me and made me think that everything I knew might fall apart.

Sometimes a birthday starts off well but then goes in a totally different direction, but this one was really special. This birthday would give me a story I’ll never forget. My name is Lara. The story began when an unmarked box showed up at my door. This box would change my life.

When I woke up, my husband Dexter whispered, “Happy birthday, beautiful.” His sly grin and sparkling gray eyes gave away a surprise. “After work, I have something amazing planned for you.”

I smiled and slid into his arms. “Any hints?”

He smiled and shook his head. “You’ll have to wait.”

Ten years ago, our story began. Without Dexter, I would not have found my true love. After seven years of marriage, we had made a wonderful life together with our five-year-old son, Dave.

“Mommy!” Dad! “Today is the party!” Dave yelled as he jumped into our room, totally excited. Dexter laughed and messed up his hair as we planned the celebrations for the day.

By nightfall, our backyard was full of family and friends. As Dave led the kids as they chased each other with water guns, the air was filled with the smell of grilled burgers. That was one of those perfect times that made life feel whole.

Then my phone rang. A call from a number I don’t know.

“I have a package for you, Mrs. Fog.” “The sender wants you to pick it up by yourself,” a rude voice said.

I got lost at the party and left to meet the delivery guy at the door. He gave me a big box but wouldn’t say who sent it. He then left before I could ask him more. I quickly brought the box inside because I thought it was Dexter’s surprise.

My heart stopped when I opened it, though. The words “FROM YOUR HUSBAND’S LOVER!” were written in red marker.

There was a scary note from my husband’s mistress and some of my stolen jewelry that had been missing for months. The note told me to go to an address by myself and invited me.

When I looked at Dexter, he was laughing with his friends and didn’t seem to notice how crazy this message was making me. What makes him want to hurt me? How long had this been going on?

Moved, I sneaked out of the party, got in my car, and drove to the address on the note. I could barely see as I thought about our marriage through tears. Did I miss the signs?

When I got there, I saw a house that had been left empty, and my gut told me to go back. But I needed to know. After a moment of thought, I knocked and walked inside. The house was dark and scary, and the sound of my steps echoed through the empty rooms.

All of a sudden, lights went on and people yelled, “WE PLAYED YOU!” “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”

When I turned around, I was shocked to see Dexter, my family, friends, and friends all grinning. “Wow!” Dexter said as he hugged me.

I stumbled and asked, “But the jewelry… the mistress?”

Dexter laughed. “It was all part of the joke!” I gave you a copy of the set that was stolen instead. There’s no other woman. I wanted this birthday to be one you’ll never forget.

As I punched him for fun, I felt relieved. “You’re awful!” “Do you know how hard it was for me?”

He laughed and kissed my forehead. “I thought this would be the best birthday ever for you.”

They will never forget it. As we walked back to the party, I smiled as I thought about how the night had gone from being a nightmare to a surprise, unforgettable party. But Dexter had better be careful, because it was his birthday soon, and I needed to plan some trouble for him.
